PayPal has expanded its payment offerings in Germany with the launch of a contactless mobile wallet, allowing users to make in-store payments by simply tapping their phones at any location that accepts Mastercard contactless payments. Available through the latest version of the PayPal app on both iOS and Android devices, this new feature enhances the ease of mobile payments for German consumers.

Alongside the contactless payment option, PayPal is also introducing its “Pay Later” service in physical stores across Germany. Customers can now use the “Ratenzahlung To Go” feature to pay for in-store purchases in three, six, twelve, or twenty-four monthly installments. This marks the first time PayPal’s installment payment option is available for physical retail purchases in Europe, offering greater flexibility for shoppers who prefer to spread out their payments.

Additionally, the new mobile wallet includes cashback rewards, allowing users to activate special offers within the PayPal app and earn cashback when making contactless payments at participating retailers in Germany. This feature further enhances the user experience by combining convenience with tangible benefits.

Joerg Kablitz, Managing Director of PayPal Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, highlighted that the launch of this mobile wallet underscores PayPal’s commitment to providing innovative payment solutions that give consumers more control over how and when they pay. He emphasized that the new app functionality would not only simplify in-store payments but also help users save money through cashback offers.

This expansion marks a key milestone for PayPal as it strengthens its position in the European in-store payment market, providing consumers with enhanced flexibility and rewards while also solidifying the company’s commitment to innovation in the payments space.
